Hanny Mena Smith
Hanny Mena Smith grew up in Cuba, where she began her dance training at the age of five. Upon moving to Jacksonville, Hanny continued her dance training at the Florida Ballet Training Center under the direction of Laurie Picinich-Byrd. Hanny has taken the American Ballet Theatre student examination, which she has passed with merits. She has participated in Youth America Grand Prix Prix Finals in New York with an ensemble, performing with many other ballet dancers from around the world. During her summers as a trainee, she took summer intensives with Orlando Ballet and Joffrey Ballet. After graduating from high school, she was accepted into Jacksonville University as a double major in Dance and Biology (Pre-dentistry). While dancing at Jacksonville University, Hanny has had the opportunity to take class from well recognized professionals such as Jennifer Muller and Kristen Gallagher to name a few. Hanny has taught students ballet in the public school programs and mentored younger students during her training. Currently, she finishing up her Master’s degree at Jacksonville University. She hopes to become an orthodontist in the near future. Hanny is looking forward to sharing her love and passion with our students.
